A Jos Magistrates’ Court has sentenced a 14-year-old boy to six months in a juvenile home after he admitted to stealing two grinding machines.

The boy was tried and convicted by Magistrate Shawomi Bokkos, who also imposed a fine of N20,000.

The court heard that the theft was reported on July 1 at the Laranto Police Station by local community leaders.

The boy, along with friends who are still at large, stole the machines, which were valued at N50,000. Fortunately, the machines were recovered during the police investigation.

The magistrate encouraged the young offender to change his ways, noting that the crime is punishable under the Plateau Penal Code Law.
