The Jigawa State Government has warned civil servants planning for retirement to be wary of impersonators.

The Executive Secretary, Jigawa State and Local Government Pension Scheme Board, Alh. Kamilu Aliyu Musa made the warning at the payment of over N 1 billion terminal benefits to the 474 retired civil servants for October 2023.

He said the scheme was introduced to ensure a sustainable contributory pension scheme, therefore, there is no basis for requesting any money from any retirees before processing his benefit.

“The scheme vision is to ensure a sustainable contributory pension scheme that would guarantee prompt payment of retired civil servants benefits in Jigawa State.

“You don’t need to pay any kobo to anybody before the payment of your retirement benefit,”

He said.

According to him, the board received reports over the activities of some impersonators extorting monies from retired civil servants to process their benefits.

Kamila, therefore, warned civil servants to beware of fraudsters and report the act to the nearest security agency for appropriate action.
