Court Sacks New Emirs Of Kano, Dissolve Emirates Governor Ganduje Established

A court sitting in kano have on Thursday 30th April nullified the creation of Emirates Governor Ganduje Established 8th of May 2019 when he came into office for his 2nd tenure as governor of kano state and sack the emirs who were appointed to sit on the thrones of the established Emirates.

It was believed that gov ganduja created the four Emirates in a quest to deal with the then emir of kano emir sanusi lamido sanusi who has consistently spoken out in criticism of the state government’s corrupt ways, sanusi was also an out spoken supporter of the PDP candidate in 2019 election which governor Ganduje emerged the winner though the election was marked with violence and rigging.

Governor Ganduje have a reputation for lack of forgiveness, which he immediately created the four Kano Emirates in a bid to weaken emir sanusi’s power, Ganduje in a further quest to humiliate the Emir of Kano, supervised the forceful removal of the Emir in what is seen to be a most unfortunate situation triggered by mere personal sentiments.

With the exit of Emir Sanusi who was exiled to Nasarawa State, the case in court against the establishment of the four new Emirates by the Governor of Kano State did not end.

The court case which lasted for Months did not get a final judgement until Thursday 30th April 2020 when a High Court sitting in Kano State delivered a verdict on the case.

While delivering the Judgement on Thursday in Kano, Justice Usman Na’aba stated that the the creation of the Emirates and the appointment of the Emirs was illegal and unacceptable.

The case against the creation of the Emirates was put forward by Muhammad Nasir a former House of Assembly member against the Kano State Government.
