EFCC Invites Former Kwara Governor For Questioning

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Monday, December 7, summoned former Kwara State Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed to its office for questioning.
Mr Ahmed, in a statement released on his Twitter account on Tuesday, said he had been invited to outline some clarified specific budgeted transactions and board-approved decisions while he was in charge of the state.

“Yesterday, I was at the Ilorin Zonal office of EFCC on invitation. During the session, I clarified specific budgeted transactions and board-approved decisions of a government body while I was Governor. No allegation of fraud was made against me. I have since returned home.”

Naija News had reported Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, who succeeded Ahmed, set up a committee to investigate some of the state’s assets and properties sold since 1999.

He has also appointed a committee to look into local government finances and their activities since 1999.

These committees have planted question marks on some officials in previous administrations.

The Judicial Panel of Inquiry on the finance of the 16 local government areas in Kwara state, however, found allegations that the State Government diverted or deducted N300m monthly from local government funds since May 2019 to date are false and baseless.
