Lagos Police Arrest 3,921 Suspected Armed Robbers, Cultists, Murderers, Others (Photos)

At least 3,921 suspected armed robbers, cultists, murderers, hoodlums and COVID-19 violators have been arrested by operatives of the Lagos Police Command, Commissioner Hakeem Odumosu said on Monday.

He said the suspects were arrested between mid-January and Monday, adding that 241 arms, 273 ammunition, 31 stolen vehicles, 187 motorcycles and 10 tricycles were recovered during the period.

Odumosu gave the statistics while giving details of achievements recorded by the Command within the period under review.

Of the numbers arrested, Odumosu said 258 were suspected armed robbers, 451 cultists, 101 murder suspects, 1,592 alleged hoodlums, 997 COVID-19 violators and 535 traffic offenders, adding that 3,258 have been charged to court with 1,107 convicted and fined.

He said the command also foiled 75 armed robberies, recorded 91 cases of rape/defilement, 127 cases of gender-based violence and 103 fatal accidents.

According to the police chief, 232 other vehicles were recovered, 2,953 motorcycles impounded for traffic offences, 85 vehicles seized for plying against traffic, 508 vehicles impounded for flouting COVID-19 curfew and 22 clubs raided.
