Liverpool Star Defender Gomez Suffers HORROR INJURY In Training
Liverpool’s defensive crisis has deepened after Joe Gomez suffered an injury on international duty with England.
The centre-back went down during a training session at St George’s Park on Wednesday, with fears the 23-year-old could now face a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
England boss Gareth Southgate is set to update on the severity of the problem later today, but there are concerns that the issue is a serious one which will keep Gomez out beyond his country’s upcoming fixtures.
That will come as a body blow to Jurgen Klopp, whose options in defence are already severely limited at this early stage of the campaign.
Klopp lost Virgil van Dijk, his No 1 centre-back, to a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament last month. Fabinho, asked to fill in for the Dutchman, then suffered a hamstring issue a week later and is yet to return to full training.
