Nigerian Air Force Airstrike Frees Five Kidnapped Victims In Katsina

Five kidnapped victims managed to escape after a Nigerian Air Force airstrike hit a bandit hideout near Babare Hills in Katsina State. The operation was part of Operation FANSAN YAMMA under the broader Operation FARAUTAR MUJIYA in the northwest. Security expert Zagazola Makama reported on Monday that the victims—Musa Umar (45), Alhaji Hassan Dando (47), Saminu Ali (35), Yasir Salisu (15), and Muhammad Buhari (17)—were initially kidnapped in early October from Bachaka quarters in Jibia and Lankwasau village. They were able to escape early Sunday morning during an airstrike that caused significant casualties among the bandits. One of the freed victims, Musa Umar, shared that the attack on the bandit enclave allowed them to break free. Four of the escapees reached an army Forward Operating Base in Faru and were later moved to the Jibia Army Camp. Despite the success, about 30 people remain in captivity at Babare Hills, restrained by chains that prevent them from escaping.
