‘Nigerians Are Large-Hearted, They Will Forgive The President For The Insecurity’ – Garba Shehu

President Muhammadu Buhari speaking today has assessed his administration on the scale of what he had promised before he came into power in 205. Mr. President humbly pleaded for pardon from the Nigerian people on what they have faced especially in terms of Insecurity. The Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the President, Garba Shehu has alleged that Nigerians are large-hearted people who will forgive the President.

He, however, stated that it’s important to understand that the President has tackled the issue of insecurity far more than he had met it before he came into power. He alleged that Bishops and Imams could not walk freely into their place of worship in the past before Buhari came into power. According to him, there are still flashes of insecurity but the President will be leaving the office knowing fully well that he improved the security level.

He said, ”Let me say that, I believe that Nigerians are largehearted, they will forgive the President for the Insecurity that has happened over the years. Let’s not make this conversation on Mr. Ortom and the people of Benue State. The people of Benue has passed a judgment on Ortom eight years in office and they declined him. If anyone wants to know who is chiefly responsible for what has happened in Benue, talk to the Benue people.

Everybody can testify to the difference that the President has made in terms of insecurity. Before, as a Presiding Bishop or Imam, you cannot enter your place of worship without being screened for weapon search. It was that bad. And all these Bishops and Imam are thankful to the President that all of that has gone. Looking at the overall picture, there are still flashes of insecurity but looking from where we were coming from, there has been a massive improvement.”
