OPINION!! Regulating Bleaching Cream In Nigeria Is A Misplaced Priority – Not Important At This Time (See Why)

So I heard that the Senate wants to regulate bleaching creams, cosmetics in Nigeria. LMAO 🤣

According to Vanguard, Senator Remi Tinubu has raised a motion to ensure the regulation of the formulation and distribution of cosmetics, especially bleaching cream.

The motion was passed on Tuesday, February 16, 2021, during plenary to urge the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) to wake up to its responsibility to protect Nigerians against harmful cosmetics.

Mrs. Tinubu expressed concern with the proliferation of small and medium enterprises and businesses that have flooded the Nigerian market with beauty products whose production are not well-regulated.

The senator raised concerns that products used for skin lightening are not indicating ingredients, or expiry dates to enlighten users of their content.

Her words; “The Senate is worried that it is impossible to determine that hygiene, quality assurance and good manufacturing practices are adhered to in the formulation of these products,” she said.

MY THOUGHTS:
Nigeria who used your pant?🤦

Is bleaching cream the major issues perturbing the country and her citizens at the moment? Nigeria is sitting on a timed bomb and someone who called herself a Senator is talking about bleaching cream.

Senator Remi Tinubu no get sense at all. Is this how she represent her constituency? LMAO 🤣

So all the killing, kidnapping in every corner of the country aren’t necessary?

This is not just a misplaced priority, but stupidity of the highest order.

But then….

Something have to be done about the high rate of skin bleaching in Nigeria currently all the name of organic products shits. Bleaching no good o.

According to Wiki, Skin whitening, also known as skin lightening and skin bleaching, is the practice of using chemical substances in an attempt to lighten the skin or provide an even skin color by reducing the melanin concentration in the skin.

Several chemicals have been shown to be effective in skin whitening, while some have proven to be toxic or have questionable safety profiles. This includes mercury compounds which may cause neurological problems and kidney problems.

In a number of African countries, between 25 and 80% of women regularly use skin whitening products. In Asia, this number is around 40%.In India, specifically, over half of skin care products are sold to whiten skin.

MY POINT?
The FG should look into this but not now. Person wey he house dey burn nodey chase rat. There are differences between NEED and WANT.
