The Ebonyi State Police Command has begun investigating the killing of a truck driver along the Ishiagu-Okigwe expressway on December 4, 2024.
The truck driver was reportedly shot dead by suspected gunmen in an area affected by a communal conflict between the communities of Umuobor, Akaeze, and Ogwor, Ishiagu, all in Ivo Local Government Area.
Police spokesperson DSP Joshua Ukandu confirmed the incident and stated that detectives are working to identify and arrest the culprits.
“Our men are on top of the matter to ensure justice is served,” he said in Abakaliki on Sunday.
Ukandu also reassured residents of the police command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property.
He urged the public to avoid engaging in criminal activities to foster peace and security in Ebonyi and Nigeria as a whole.
