Ruud Van Nistelrooy Steps Down As Manchester United Interim Coach Following Ruben Amorim’s Appointment

Ruud van Nistelrooy has stepped down as interim head coach of Manchester United following the appointment of Ruben Amorim as the club’s new permanent head coach.

Van Nistelrooy, a legendary former United striker, took over temporarily after Erik ten Hag left in late October.

His tenure ended on a high note with a 3-0 win over Leicester City, completing an unbeaten four-game spell that included a win against Leicester and a draw with Chelsea.

Although his interim stint was successful, van Nistelrooy will not remain on Amorim’s coaching staff.

In a statement, Manchester United praised him, saying, “Ruud is, and always will be, a Manchester United legend. We are grateful for his contributions and his dedication to the role.”

Amorim’s first game as head coach will be against Ipswich Town on November 24.

Van Nistelrooy, who previously managed PSV Eindhoven and scored 150 goals in 219 appearances for United, remains a cherished figure in the club’s history.

United currently sit 13th in the Premier League, just four points from Champions League qualification spots.
