A rights group, Nigeria Arise Against Crime, NAAC, has advised President Muhammadu Buhari to sack the current military chiefs to save Nigeria and his administration from the embarrassment of losing several lives to insurgents and banditry.

Addressing a press conference on Thursday in Abuja, the national coordinator of the group, Dr. Yusuf Kazeem, noted that the continued keeping of the security chiefs who, according to him, have exhausted their wit, was a disservice to the nation’s security framework.

The group alleged that imperial evidences available showed that the security chiefs were retained by a certain cabal for selfish reasons at the expense of national security.

“Imperial facts available to us shows that the service chiefs have exhausted their wit. Nothing new is been done to add vigour to the fight against insurgents, bandits and other criminal elements.

‘’However, to create an impression that the war is being won, the military chiefs and its collaborators in the corridors of power have engaged propagandist using the media to give Nigeria and the world false impression.

“Regrettably, the lives of our young and vibrant military personnel are been used as sacrifice as they continue to fall in the hands of terrorists and bandits. Keeping mute at the time when lives were being loss on a daily basis is no longer golden.

“President Muhammad Buhari must do the needful now. We have added our voices to several others who have tried to remove the veil for the President to see through the fraud been perpetuated in the name of fighting insurgency and other crimes.

‘’The chief of army staff’s relocation to the north east is one of the many antics as it has not helped in any way but given a fresh angle to propaganda and sympathy seeking,” the group noted.

It further added that the killing of hundreds of people in Kaduna, Katsina, Sokoto and Zamfara states amongst other places in the last few days despite the army’s claim of carrying series of airstrikes says a lot.

To ensure that the President rise up to his duty of protecting lives and property, the group pledged to mobilize for a nationwide protest to bring to the attention of the world gimmicks being played by the military top hierarchy to cover up for their deficiencies.

“We will in the coming days mobilise for a protests in all the states of the federation including the Federal Capital Territory to ensure that the President brings in persons with fresh ideas and energy to further prosecute the war against insecurity,” the group noted.
