Sanwo-Olu Cancels Selection Process For LASU VC

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has ordered a fresh process for the appointment of a new Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University (LASU).

The cancellation of the process for the appointment of the 9th VC was announced on Friday evening, by the governor’s spokesman, Gboyega Akosile.

Akosile in the statement noted that a fresh process was ordered by the governor of which must be completed within 45 days.

He noted that the decision followed an investigation and stakeholders’ engagement necessitated by petitions against the selection process.

The governor directed also the outgoing VC, Prof. Olanrewaju Fagbohun to convene an emergency Senate meeting.

He stated that the purpose of the meeting is to appoint one of the deputy vice-chancellors as acting vice-chancellor from January 11.

Sanwo-Olu added the DVC must not be a candidate in the cancelled selection process.

The governor further directed that the senate should select among its members, a pro tem chairman to superintend the meeting and conduct of the election of an acting vice-chancellor.
