Uniben: ‘Around 12PM In The Night, The Soldiers Entered Our School And Started Shooting’ – SUG

he SUG President of the University of Benin has lamented over the vehement attack on the students of the school in the last couple of days. The SUG President who’s identified as Foster Amadin revealed the cause of the conflict between the Soldiers and the Students. He alleged that the Soldiers had initially brutalized a young lady who they thought was recording them after they forcefully took over an ATM spot.

Foster Amadin claimed that the Soldiers were confronted by Students after they started harassing other students including the school security officer. Quite surprising, the Soldiers came back to the school in the middle of the night. He alleged that they destroyed the school properties, and the CCTV cameras and also shot several times to intimidate the students.

He said, ”What happened is that a girl with her phone was holding it. And the next thing the Soldiers felt after force fully taking over an ATM machine, the girl was videoing them. They took the phone and smashed the phone. They started embarrassing the students that were there, the Soldiers went ahead to call a female soldier to slap her. Then the girl ran to the security department to get shelter, getting there Soldiers still pursued her there and slapped the Chief Security officer of the University of Benin.

Around 12 in the midnight, the soldiers entered our school and started shooting spontaneously. The school gate was already locked, how they entered into the school is what we don’t know.”
