Lampard said Wolves were aggressive against Chelsea, adding that his team could not bring together its aggression against the host.
The Englishman watched as a first-half goal from Matheus Nunes gave Wolves all three points against Chelsea at Molineux Stadium.
Speaking at his post-match press conference, Lampard said,
“I’m not saying the squad doesn’t have the aggression, it’s bringing it together. We were up against an aggressive team today. It has to be said to be dealt with. Wednesday will be a different game.
“The practical side is what matters to me. Disappointed I could not give the fans a win.
“It’s a big task. We’re not in a position we want to be in, there is always a reason for it. I didn’t expect to solve everything in one day.”
Chelsea will now face Real Madrid in the Champions League in their next game on Wednesday.
