Atiku Not Handing Over Federal Universities To State Governments – Aide Clears Air

The former vice-president and presidential candidate of the opposition People Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, has refuted viral media reports that he promised to handover Federal universities to State governments if elected as the President of Nigeria in 2023.

Atiku Abubakar’s Media Adviser, Paul Ibe, stated this in an official statement on Monday, 22nd August 2022, said that the media misunderstood what Atiku Abubakar said.

Paul Ibe said they feel sad about how media badly misunderstood what the former vice-president meant when he was speaking at the 62nd annual conference of the Nigerian Bar Association concerning the education sector in the country and the steps he will apply to resolve issues in educational system.

The Media Adviser stressed that Atiku Abubakar simply referenced a university professor while responding to questions put to him. He said that Atiku Abubakar never meant that he will give away Federal universities to State governments if he becomes the country’s President in 2023.
