A 30-year-old man identified as Monday Uwem allegedly killed his 26-year-old wife, Blessing Menaboo, in Akassa, Brass Local Government Area, Bayelsa State.

It was gathered that the suspected wife killer later buried Menaboo’s remains in a shallow grave he dug in their kitchen at Aparama Fishing Camp in the area.

Neighbours were said to have uncovered the crime, apprehended the culprit and handed him over to the police.

The police spokesman in the state, SP Asinim Butswat, confirmed the incident, saying the suspect has already confessed to the crime.

He said: “Investigation has commenced into the murder of one Blessing Menaboo ‘f’ 26 years, a resident of Aparama Fishing Camp, Okumbiri Town, Akassa, Brass Local Government Area, Bayelsa State.

“The deceased was allegedly killed by her husband, one Monday Uwem, 30 years, at their residence at Aparama Fishing Camp and he buried her body in a shallow grave in their kitchen.

“The suspect was arrested and detained for further interrogation and investigation,” he said.
