“Tinubu Said He Will Not Dictate But He Has Started Dictating So Early For Nigerians” — Festus Osifo

The President of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), Festus Osifo, has accused President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of imposing his will on Nigerians through the removal of fuel subsidy without prior consultation with the NLC and the TUC.

According to an interview with Channels TV, Osifo emphasized the importance of due communication between the Presidency and the Trade Union, which represents the masses of Nigeria, before implementing a policy. He further pointed out that the President’s actions contradict his promise during his inauguration speech not to dictate to Nigerians.

Osifo questioned whether consultation was carried out before the fuel subsidy removal, to which the answer was a resounding “No.” He stressed the need for discussion on sensitive issues that affect the Nigerian workers and the entire masses before taking any action.

In his words, “The Nigerian President claimed that he wouldn’t impose his will, but he has already begun to do so at such an early stage. It is essential to have a thorough conversation before delving into sensitive topics and domains. This dialogue is crucial for us as we speak for the Nigerian workforce and the entire populace.”
