Over 86 million views

‘Come Closer’ video is Wizkid’s most viewed music video ever on YouTube.
The clip got its first million views just 24 hours after it dropped.

Wizkid started recording music at age 11 and managed to release a collaborative album with the Glorious Five, a group he and a couple of his church friends formed.

In 2009, he signed a record deal with Empire Mates Entertainment (E.M.E). He rose to prominence in 2010 with the release of the song “Holla at Your Boy” from his debut studio album, Superstar (2011). “Tease Me/Bad Guys”, “Don’t Dull”, “Love My Baby”, “Pakurumo” and “Oluwa Lo Ni” were also released as singles from the Superstar album.

In February 2014, Wizkid became the first ever Nigerian musician to have over 1 million followers on Twitter.

Ayo, his self-titled second studio album, was released in September 2014. It was supported by six singles: “Jaiye Jaiye”, “On Top Your Matter”, “One Question”, “Joy”, “Bombay” and “Show You the Money”. Following the release of his second studio album and expiration of his 5-year recording contract, Wizkid left E.M.E.

In 2016, Wizkid achieved international recognition following his collaboration with Drake on the global hit, “One Dance”, which reached number one in 15 countries, including the United States, United Kingdom, Canada and Australia.

Wizkid also became the first Afrobeats artist to appear in the 2018 Guinness World Records for his contribution to “One Dance”.

In July 2019, Wizkid was featured on “Brown Skin Girl”, a track from Beyoncé’s compilation album The Lion King: The Gift. He appeared on the track alongside Beyonce and her daughter Blue Ivy.

“On the Low” was released on November 16, 2018. It is a fusion of Afrobeat and dancehall. The song was produced by Kel P and has been described as a mid-tempo love song. The accompanying music video for “On the Low” was shot and directed by Meji Alabi. Currently the video is the most watched Burna Boy’s music video on YouTube.

8. Korede Bello – Do Like That

Over 89 million views

As at the time this song was released, it was the most played song on both TV and radio.. Nominations garnered by ‘Do like that’ include; City People Music Award for Music Producer of the Year, City People Music Award for Popular Song of the Year.

With a record view of over 97 million views, IF by Davido can be said to be one of his best songs so far. This song was so hot R-kelly just couldn’t resist jumping on it.

With a record 95 million views and counting, “ Personally,” the 2014 hit song by the now defunct music duo of Nigerian celebrity twins Peter and Paul Okoye is the 6th most watched Nigerian music video on YouTube.

P-SQUARE

P-Square used to be a Nigerian R&B duo of identical twin brothers Peter Okoye and Paul Okoye. They produced and released their albums through Square Records until September 2017.

On 25 September 2017, numerous media outlets reported that the group disbanded. Reports about a breakup surfaced after Peter reportedly sent a termination letter to the group’s lawyer. Prior to this report, the duo disbanded in 2016, supposedly over a disagreement about the role of their manager.

This here is the one song that propelled Runtown internationally. Back in 2017, this song was the most popular song in Nigeria. The song currently has a staggering 98 million views on Youtube.

Runtown was born on 19 August 1989 in Enugu but grew up partly in Abuja and Lagos, where he finished his primary education.

In 2014 he released “Gallardo”, a song which features vocals from Davido and was released as the first single off his debut studio album Ghetto University.

Gallardo went on to win “Best Collaboration of the Year” at the 2014 edition of the Nigeria Entertainment Awards.

Yemi made her debut in the music scene in 2009, but it was until 2014 that she released this song and everyone was just blown away. The hit song ‘Johnny’ currently holds YouTube record of the most watched African Female (secular) video of all time And the fourth most watched Nigerian music video of all time.

Yemi Alade’s debut studio album King of Queens was released on October 2, 2014, by Effyzzie Music Group. The album was preceded by three singles: “Johnny”, “Tangerine” and “Kissing”.

The deluxe edition of King of Queens was released in November 2014, and contains French versions of songs originally performed in English.

Alade’s second studio album Mama Africa was released on March 25, 2016, by Effyzzie Music Group. The album is the follow-up to her debut studio album King of Queens (2014).

Born in Atlanta and raised in Lagos, Davido made his music debut as a member of the music group KB International.

He studied business administration at Oakwood University before dropping out to make beats and record vocal references.

Davido rose to fame in 2011 with the release of “Dami Duro”, the second single from his debut studio album Omo Baba Olowo (2012).

The album also contained six additional singles: “Back When”, “Ekuro”, “Overseas”, “All of You”, “Gbon Gbon”, and “Feel Alright”.

In 2012, Davido won The Headies Award for Next Rated. Between 2013 and 2015, he released the hit singles “Gobe”, “One of a Kind”, “Skelewu”, “Aye”, “Tchelete (Goodlife)” featuring Mafikizolo, “Naughty” featuring DJ Arafat, “Owo Ni Koko”, “The Sound” and “The Money” featuring Olamide.
