Commotion As Commercial Bus Driver Sets Traffic Control Officer On Fire In Edo

In a tragic incident, a commercial bus driver violently set ablaze an official of the Edo State Traffic Management Agency (EDSTMA) on Friday, February 9, 2024.

The incident occurred when the officer was taking the driver to the EDSTMA office for allegedly violating a traffic law by beating the traffic light at Adesuwa Junction along Sapele Road.

The driver resisted arrest, prompting the personnel to escort the vehicle to the EDSTMA office.

During this process, the driver stripped himself naked, retrieved a keg of petrol from his vehicle, poured it on the officer, and set him on fire.

The injured officer is currently receiving medical treatment in an undisclosed hospital, as confirmed by the agency in a statement posted on its official Facebook page.

In the statement which was made on the official page which read;

“The Management of Edo State Traffic Control and Management Agency, ( EDSTMA) hereby to announce to the general public that a motorist driving a commercial bus with the registration number *FFE145XA* committed a traffic offence at Adesuwa Junction, Sapele Road, Benin City on Friday, 9th February, 2023.”

“On apprehension, the bus driver angrily brought out fuel and set one of the officers ablaze.”

“Currently, the officer is in an undisclosed hospital receiving treatment.”

“The bus driver is on the run. Anyone with any useful information regarding this driver should kindly report at any EDSTMA office or call 08078679190.”
