Justice Theresa Diai, the Delta State Chief Judge, oversaw the release during a three-week exercise reviewing 1,477 warrants.

The freed individuals faced charges ranging from being part of unlawful societies to robbery, attempted murder, and conspiracy.

The decision to release them came from the advice of the Director of Public Prosecutions, who concluded they had no case to answer.

In Ogwashi-uku Correctional Centre, eight inmates were among the 358 cases reviewed and subsequently released during the last quarterly correctional visit of the year.
